Privacy, Confidentiality and Safeguarding Obligations: 

 Our work is confidential although there are a number of safeguarding rules around client disclosure. I would always inform you if I needed to break your confidentiality for safeguarding reasons. This would be if you disclosed harm to yourself or to others.  

Specifically, child protection issues, people-trafficking and terrorism are externally reportable, as are activities that could be linked to these crimes such as drug related activities (e.g., county lines operations and money laundering). These crimes are, ’absolutes’. 

If you disclose intent to commit harm but have not committed a crime at the time, I would remind you that I have clearly provided my safeguarding obligations to you and remind you of my position as a witness, should harm be done.  I would clarify what you are attempting to communicate to me.  

I am externally accountable to an independent supervisor.  Everything I discuss with my supervisor is anonymised.
